Surveyor Schley’s Visit
The Baltimore Herald of today says: “Col. Buchanan Schley, the new surveyor of the port, visited the Customs house yesterday and called upon Acting Surveyor Washington Bowie, with whom he spent some tie in conversation. He will file his bond as soon as possible, and will then qualify and enter upon his duties as soon as he receives his commission. During his call yesterday Colonel Schley invited Colonel Bowie to remain with him as deputy surveyor of Customs, and Colonel Bowie accepted the invitation. Hence there will not be any change in the county surveyorship.”
